Why PT? (What drew you to the profession?)
I have known I wanted to be a physical therapist since I was in junior high. When I was in 8th grade, I met a PT at a job fair and we talked for over an hour. I was so excited, I began shadowing at their clinic the next week. I job shadowed all through high school, eventually becoming a patient myself at the clinic due to a wrestling injury, which even more secured my desire to enter the profession after my experience.
What keeps you involved?
APTA Montana is leading the way in the United States. Pushing direct access, primary care, and practicing at the top of our scope along with legislative wins to compliment these goals.
Favorite Part of the Job:
I never feel like I am working. I get to meet such incredible people from all different walks of life and help them get back to doing what they love and get out of pain.
Words of Wisdom for New Grads or Students:
Seek out quality mentorship. Find a physical therapist that inspires you to be better and that you can learn
from. Love what you do and where you work and if you do, you'll never really work a day in your career as a
PT.
Fun Fact:
I have worn a different ugly Christmas sweater in the clinic every single day in December.
